Reverend Hosie L. Hopkins Jr.
Rev. Hosie L. Hopkins, Jr. is the son of the late Mr. Hosie L. Hopkins, Sr. and Mrs. Shirley H. Galloway. He is the brother of Anthony Hopkins and Shari Hazel. Rev. Hopkins is married to Johnnie Davis Hopkins, they are the proud parents of Hosie L. Hopkins, III (Trey).
Rev. Hopkins had his humble beginnings in the Frayser community. He attended Hawkins Mill Elementary, Georgia Hills Junior High and Trezevant High School. He attended UT Martin and University of Memphis. He received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 1998. In May of 2007 Rev. Hopkins receive the degree of Masterís of Theology. He was inducted in the Whoís Who of America and is a member of the Fraternity Omega Psi Phi. After college Rev. Hopkins joined the National Guard where he served for nine years, prior to leaving on an honorable discharge.
Rev. Hopkins enjoys weight lifting, basketball, swimming, going to the movies, playing checkers and playing the horn. Most of all he enjoy spending time with his lovely wife, son, family and friends.
The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (Isaiah 61:1)
Rev. Hopkins accepted the call to preach in September 1983 under the leadership of Rev. James Oler. He remained under his leadership for six years. In 1989 Rev. Hopkins joined New Salem MB Church under the leadership of Dr. Frank E. Ray, Sr. In October 1995 Dr. Ray selected Rev. Hopkins to become the Assistant Pastor of New Salem. During his tenure at New Salem Rev. Hopkins was actively involved in the several ministries including New Membership, Missions, Prison, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Marriage Enrichment, Evangelism, and taught noon day bible study. His community work involved being a volunteer Chaplin at Methodist hospital; as well as sharing with students in career and reading day at various schools in the city. Because of his gift to preach and teach the word he gained love and respect from the saints at Salem. Pastor Hopkins holds Dr. Ray and the New Salem family close at heart.
Pastor Hopkins has attended and participated in many seminars and conferences, such as the V & B ministry, hosted by Drís Billy Bell and V. K. Jones of Dallas, TX; Brentwood Singles conference, hosted by Dr. Samuel Ratliff in Houston, TX, The Jasper Williams Conference in Atlanta, GA; and the WHW Conference, hosted by Dr. R. A. Williams, the late Dr. Frank Harris, and Dr. George Waddles. He has attended the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and the National Baptist Convention USA.
He has conducted revivals and preached across the country in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, Michigan, New York, Florida, Missouri, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, and Alabama.
And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. (Joshua 3:7)
In November 2006 Pastor Hopkins accepted His next assignment to Pastor New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2731 Enterprise Ave, in Memphis, Tennessee. New Hope had approximately forty-five members that remained prayerful that God would send a Leader. Within three months the churches membership grew from forty-five too four hundred, with seventeen active ministries. Pastor Hopkins has proven to be a Servant after Godís own Heart. His MESSAGE has been telling men, women, boys and girls, God want them too "Go To The Next Level".
